SD-15.2 — Product Development & Launch

Business Domain: BD-15 Distribution, Product & Client Management (Commercial) · Applies: BOTH

Purpose

Designs, structures, prices and brings a new fund or strategy to market. Where SD-15.1 decides what to offer, SD-15.2 builds and launches it: it designs the product, selects the legal vehicle and structure, sets the fee and pricing, secures any seed capital, and executes the launch. It is not the ongoing governance of the product once live — that is SD-15.3 — and it is not the legal drafting of the fund documents, which is SD-14.9; SD-15.2 owns the product-build decision, SD-14.9 drafts the agreements it needs.

Service Operations

  • Design the product — design the strategy, the structure and the terms of the new fund or strategy.
  • Select the vehicle and structure — choose the legal vehicle, the domicile and the structure the product will use.
  • Set the pricing — set the fee schedule, the share-class structure and the pricing of the product.
  • Secure seed capital — arrange the seed or launch capital the product needs.
  • Execute the launch — coordinate the launch: registration, listing where relevant, and the cross-functional launch readiness.

Inputs and outputs

  • Inputs: the product roadmap from SD-15.1; the legal and tax structuring from SD-14.9 and SD-17.4; the fund-registration regimes; market and competitor pricing.
  • Outputs: the launched fund or strategy — consumed by SD-13.3 Investment Vehicle & Fund Master (the new vehicle’s reference data), SD-15.3 (which governs it from launch) and the front office (which manages it).

Entities

  • Consumes: PM-01 Fund & Vehicle, PM-10 Fund Terms, PM-05 Legal Vehicle, FO-01 Fund Product (the issued-fund product record the launch populates — SD-15.2 contributes the new product’s initial reference record to FO-01, owned by SD-13.3); the SD-14.9 legal and tax structuring; the SD-15.1 product roadmap; the SD-17.4 legal and tax structuring.
  • Owns: contributes the new product to FO-01 Fund Product (anchored in SD-13.3) and, should a generic Product entity be modelled, to it (an open SD-15.3 question); the launched vehicle’s reference record is owned by SD-13.3.

Standards

  • The fund-structuring conventions; the PRIIPs KID and the UCITS KIID; the fund-registration regimes.
  • The EU cross-border distribution of funds framework for the launch registration.

Open extensions

  • The vehicle-and-structure sub-model.
  • The launch-readiness checklist.
  • The Service-Operation-level input/output contracts.
